Mary & Pavlo

More About Us

Mary comes from an Irish Catholic family from New York. She is a social worker who spent five years working for an adoption agency providing counseling to birth parents and adoptive parents, as well as doing reunions. She is very comfortable with adoption and knows the sacrifices birth parents make when placing their child with an adoptive family. Mary’s family has firsthand experience with adoption. Mary’s mother’s cousin placed a child (Mary Ellen) for adoption in the 1960s. About three years ago she located Mary’s family and there was a reunion that followed. Mary’s family feels very positive towards birth parents, knowing that their relative placed a child for adoption and that they too are part of a birth family.

Pavlo comes from a Ukrainian Catholic family from Connecticut. He works for the federal government as a supervisor overseeing grant money that funds different health and safety programs in different states. He enjoys working for the government, values the security his job affords and the flexibility that his job provides for the balance of work and family life. When a baby is placed, he will be able to take plenty of time off.

Both of our extended families cannot wait for us to have a baby join our family. Our child will be the first grandchild for Pavlo’s parents and the third grandchild for Mary’s parents. We both have many friends who are beginning their families too, including one couple who is waiting to adopt as well. We enjoy spending time with our friends and family and they are very supportive of our adoption plans.
