Beth, Jill & Elias
Our Daily Lives
Elias and Grandpa
During the Week, we all have places to be! Beth is a manager in a non-profit organization that provides legal assistance services. She has a short commute by train every day to the office – a real 9-5 kind of gal. Jill, in contrast, is more of a free spirit on the job front. After founding a dog walking company four years ago, she recently sold her business to return to school in pursuit of a nursing career. Once her studies are completed, Jill anticipates working a flexible hospital schedule that will allow her to continue to be home with Elias a good chunk of time. Just this fall, at the age of 18 months, Elias started going to a family day care three days a week (the other two he is at home with Jill). So far, he is really thriving in his new environment and loves to be around other children.
During the Weekend, we like to get out and play! We are very active and enjoy being outside when the weather is nice. A favorite family activity is taking the dogs for a walk to the park near our house where we always make a pit stop at the playground for Elias. We also enjoy going for day trips in the car where we can see and do things a little out of the ordinary. Some examples of our outings include going raspberry picking where Elias ate as fast as he picked and visiting a farm where Elias was able to hand feed a goat. We look forward to involving another child in these adventures.
Another important weekend event is going to church. We belong to a Christian church with an open and affirming community. The congregation is filled with people of many different ages and races. There is an active religious education program that introduces children to faith through creative activities. Our church also has a strong commitment to giving back to the community through both volunteer efforts and financial support. The importance of helping others is a value we hope to instill in our children.
Elias, Mimi and Auntie Meagan
During the Holidays, we make time for family and friends! We celebrate all the biggies – Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas - and are always surrounded by loved ones. We each come from a family of two children. Beth has an older brother, Joe, and Jill has a younger sister, Meagan. Joe and Beth’s parents (Grandma & Grandpa) live in Connecticut just a couple of hours away, so we’re able to see them often. For several years, we’ve hosted them at Thanksgiving along with Meagan who lives just a few streets over from us. Jill’s parents (Mimi & Granddad) live further away, in Tennessee, so we make the most of our visits together. We enjoy traveling there for Christmas, which gives us a nice break from the cold winter weather in Boston!
