When asked what she wanted in an adoptive family, she said that she wanted someone to love and parent Turner as their own and to share his development with her. The adoptive parents Sherry selected live in the same geographic area and have agreed to send pictures, letters and videos and to make themselves available for visits if Sherry would like to do so. Sherry wanted to meet the adoptive parents and, due to the timing, she did so while she was at the hospital. She was very relieved to hear from them that they “wanted” to be her child’s parents. Sherry was very nervous about selecting adoptive parents because she felt that they may not be interested in her child. While at the hospital, the adoptive parents took pictures with Turner and Sherry. This reinforced for Sherry that these were parents who would love and treasure Turner and would honor her as his birth mother. Sherry shared with the adoptive parents that she had named her son after her grandfather. In honor of her, the adoptive parents have retained the grandfather’s name as their son’s middle name. | ||||
