About Bright Futures
Bright Futures Adoption Center, a program of Robert F. Kennedy Children's Action Corps, is a non-profit adoption agency licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care. Our mission is to educate, counsel and support birth and adoptive parents through the adoption process in an ethical and compassionate manner. Bright Futures handles a full range of open adoptions and places infants born in the United States.
Bright Futures was formed ten years ago in 1999 for the dual purposes of welcoming families of color to the adoption process and encouraging ongoing contact between birth and adoptive families to provide lifelong access to information for children.
At Bright Futures, we believe that every adoption should:
- Focus on the best interests of the child,
- Provide birth and adoptive parents with an opportunity to get to know and respect one another,
- Provide children with access to ongoing information,
- Encourage birth and adoptive parents to participate in the creation of the adoption plan to insure that the needs of all parties are met,
- Be structured with the knowledge that adoption is a lifelong process, and
- Be handled honestly and with respect for the participants' feelings regarding openness and ongoing contact.
